Reuter By CNN. US software giant Microsoft Corp. said Thursday it will slash the price of its new Xbox game console in Australia, the UK and Europe to boost sales.
The price cuts range from 38.5 percent in Australia and 37.5 percent in Europe to 33.5 percent in the UK. The new price in Europe will be 299 euros ($266), down from 479 euros. In Britain it will be £199 ($288), down from £300, while in Australia the price will fall to A$399 ($211) from A$649. The new prices, which take effect on April 26, will match that of market leader Sony Corp's best-selling PlayStation 2 console in Europe.
